The big news right now (for us anyway) is that we're working on the very last set in the documentation backlog. And it was a swell one: An Evening with Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry. Tracy was half of the critically acclaimed folk duo Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer until Dave's untimely passing in 2002. Since then, she's continued as a solo artist. In September 2019, she blew out her knee just before a national tour and had to cancel two months of shows. We were fortunate to somehow be part of a hobbled-up and cobbled-together "Best Brace Forward" within-driving-distance super-mini-tour.She was there with Jim Henry... multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, sideman, headliner, producer, engineer. In addition to Tracy, he's worked with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Paula Cole, Shawn Colvin, Alison Krauss, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Los Lobos, Asleep at the Wheel, Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, The Weepies, Deb Talan, Eliza Gilkyson, Susan Werner, The Boxcar Lilies — to name a few.It was a darned good show. Maybe you were there.Other sets added in the last couple-three months (presented here in reverse order of addition) include Emily Lyons, Tom Pirozzoli, Dave Richardson, Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio, the second Synthfest Session, Olivia Nied, The Sky Blue Boys, Rupert Wates, Josh Maiocco, Will Stahl, Scott MacDonald, 6foot6, Carl Beverly, David Rosane and The Zookeepers, and more.  

Tell ya what, we're really looking forward to the new cameras. Trying to hide poor quality video under piles of effects, besides being pretty hack, is getting old. Art though. It's art.

We're waiting on word about another grant we applied for (we keep trying even though we've racked up a spectacular rejection rate), this one for crackerjack vocal microphones... another one-time upgrade that ideally will outlast all of us. Probably won't know yea or nay until the end of August, after we've restarted — the restart being contingent on nothing else crazy jumping out of Pandora's Box.Why do we keep trying to improve the gear instead of skating along with make-do? Three main reasons. 1) Because we like you; and 2) The better we can present the up-and-comers, the more effective we'll be at fulfilling the mission to help them further their careers; and 3) The better we can make Stage 33 Live — while retaining its funky flavor, of course — the more effective we'll be at contributing to the upward arc of Bellows Falls. We have this annoying condition where we want everybody to win.Also, 4) "Talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not." So much talent in these parts without a lot of opportunity. We want to be part of the solution. 

Uptake on our new arty-artist wrinkle has been slow, but we haven't exactly been pushing it. Like, at all. Felicity Haselton found us somehow though, which is super cool... we love her work. She'll be on hand and on exhibit during two shows: Linda Sussman with Pat Daddona + Friends on September 9, and Rupert Wates with Josh Maiocco on December 12. 

"New arty-artist wrinkle"?We're opening the walls for short-burst exhibits on the days we have things happening on the stage. One artist per show. Before, during, and after the performance. (Everybody is welcome to come view the art before the show starts, but they have to pay the cover if they want to stay for the performance.) We'll give the arty-artists up to ten minutes of stage time to introduce themselves and discuss their work, and that will be filmed and produced.Details?
